प्राचीन नाम :- वीरभान का बास 

भौगोलिक नाम :- शेखावाटी का ह्रदृय स्थल 

नदियाँ :- कांतली, मंथा, साबी, कृष्णावती, और कांतली यहाँ की प्रमुख आंतरिक नदियां है 

दर्शनीय स्थल :- 

1 जीणमाता 

सीकर से 30 किमी  दूर जीणमाता [जयंती देवी] का मंदिर है। यहाँ प्रतिवर्ष चैत्र व अश्विनी नवरात्राओं  में मेले लगते हैं।

2 हर्षगिरी

सीकर से 14 किमी दक्षिण में अरावली के 31 फीट ऊँचे पहाड़ी हर्षगिरी पर 10वीं शताब्दी का प्राचीन शिलालेख है। पुरातात्विक मान्यता है कि इसी स्थान पर इन्द्र द्वारा भगवान शिव की हर्ष के नाम से स्तुति की गई। शिवालय के दक्षिण में हर्षनाथ भैरव का मंदिर है। हर्षनाथ मंदिर को प्रकाश में लाने का श्रेय सार्जेन्ट इडान ( 1834 )को है  राज्य में लिंगोद्भव मूर्ति का एकमात्र उदाहरण हर्षनाथ मंदिर से प्राप्त होता है।

3 शाकम्भरी माता 

सीकर से 60 किमी शाकम्भरी शक्ति पीठ है। इस शक्ति पीठ के प्राचीन मंडप का निर्माण चौहान राजा दुर्लभराज के भतीजे एवं शिवहरि के पुत्र सिद्धराज ने करवाया था। चैत्र व अश्विनी माह में यहाँ मेला लगता है।

 4  खाटू श्यामजी

दांतारामगढ़ तहसील का ग्राम खाटूश्यामजी मंदिर से विख्यात है। यहाँ सिर की पूजा होती है। यहाँ फाल्गुन एवं कार्तिक माह में मेलों का आयोजन किया जाता है।

5 गणेश्वर

  यहाँ प्राचीन ताम्रकालीन सभ्यता विद्यमान है। यहाँ शिव का प्रसिद्ध मंदिर है।

6 फतेहपुर

यहाँ दौलत खाँ का मकबराए वीर हाजी निजामुद्दीन चिश्ती की दरगाह तथा लक्ष्मीनाथ जी का मंदिर है।

7 सीकर

सीकर की स्थापना 1687 में हुई थी। पहले इसे वीरभान का बास कहा जाता था। यहाँ की गढ़ी माधो निवास कोठीए विक्टोरिया मेमोरियल हॉलए संग्रहालयए बजाज मेमोरियल आदि दर्शनीय हैं।

8 लक्ष्मणगढ़

यहाँ का दुर्ग प्रसिद्ध है। इसका निर्माण राव राजा लक्ष्मणसिंह ने करवाया था। लक्ष्मणगढ़ कस्बे का मुरली मनोहर मंदिर चार चौक की हवेलीए राठियों की हवेली सांवतराम चौखानी की हवेली, केडियों की हवेली, ब्रजमोहन सरावगी की हवेली के भित्ति चित्र प्रसिद्ध हैं।  लक्ष्मणगढ़ महिला शिक्षा के लिए प्रसिद्ध है।

 अन्य स्मरणीय तथ्य

• गुरारा की खुदाई में चाँदी के 2744 पंच मार्क सिक्के प्राप्त हुए है।
• लोक देवता बाबा झंझारजी का मेला रामनवमी को स्यालोदड़ा में भरता है। 
• शेखावाटी क्षेत्र का प्रमुख जिला सीकर जमनालाल बजाजए
• घनश्यामदास पोद्दारए बद्रीनारायण सोढ़ाणी आदि से जुड़ा हुआ है। जिले को राज्य का पहला हाइटेक जिला होने का गौरव प्राप्त है। 
• देश का सबसे बड़ा बकरी पालन फार्म सीकर के बलेखण में है। 
• राज्य का पहला फल उद्यान सरगोठ में है।
• खण्डेला और रघुनाथगढ़ से यूरेनियम भण्डार के संकेत मिले हैं।

Scenic Spots :-

1 Jeenmata

Jeenmata (Jayanti) 30 km away from Sikar. There is a temple of Goddess. Fairs are held here every year in Chaitra and Ashwini Navratras.

2 Harshgiri

There is an ancient 10th century inscription on Harshagiri, a 31 feet high hill of Aravalli, 14 km south of Sikar. Archaeological belief is that at this place Lord Shiva was praised by Indra in the name of Harsh. To the south of the pagoda is the temple of Harshnath Bhairav. The credit of bringing the Harshnath temple to light goes to Sergeant E Dean (1834). The only example of a Lingodbhava idol in the state is found from the Harshnath temple.

3 Shakambhari

Shakambhari Shakti Peeth is 60 km from Sikar. The ancient pavilion of this Shakti Peeth was built by Siddharaj, the nephew of Chauhan king Rareelraj and son of Shivhari. A fair is held here in the month of Chaitra and Ashwini.

 4 Khatu Shyamji

The village of Dantaramgarh tehsil is famous for Khatushyamji temple. Here the head is worshipped. Fairs are organized here in the month of Falgun and Kartik.

5 Ganeshwar

  Ancient copper civilization exists here. There is a famous temple of Shiva here.

6 Fatehpur

Here is the tomb of Daulat Khan, the dargah of Veer Haji Nizamuddin Chishti and the temple of Laxminathji.

7 Sikar

Sikar was established in 1687. Earlier it was called Veerbhan ka Bass. The Garhiya Madho Niwas Kothi, Victoria Memorial Hall, Museum, Bajaj Memorial etc. are worth visiting here.

8 Laxmangarh

The fort here is famous. It was built by Rao Raja Lakshman Singh. The Murli Manohar Temple of Laxmangarh town, Char Chowk ki Haveli, Rathi ki Haveli, Sawatram Chaukhani ki Haveli, Kedion ki Haveli, Brajmohan Saraogi ki Haveli are famous for their frescoes. Laxmangarh is famous for female education.

• In the excavation of Gurara, 2744 punch mark coins of silver have been found.
• The fair of the folk deity Baba Jhanjharji fills Ramnavami in Syalodara.
• The main district of Shekhawati region is Sikar Jamnalal Bajaj
• Ghanshyamdas is associated with Poddar, Badrinarayan Sodhani etc. The district has the distinction of being the first hi-tech district of the state.
• The country's largest goat farming farm is in Sikar's Balekhan.
• The first fruit garden of the state is in Sargoth.
• Signs of uranium deposits have been found from Khandela and Raghunathgarh.
