नदियाँ :- लुनी यहाँ की प्रमुख नदी है अन्य नदियो मे सुकडी और मीठडी मुख्य है लुनी नदी का जल बालोतरा तक मीठा तथा आगे खारा हो जाता है क्योकि यह पंचपदरा नामक खारे पानी की झील से होकर निकलता है
उर्जा :-
- पेट्रोलियम :- मंगला-1 ऐश्वर्या, विजया, भाग्यम्, रागेश्वरी प्रमुख तेल क्षेत्र हैं। यहाँ तेल की खोज का कार्य ब्रिटेन की केयर्न एनर्जी कम्पनी द्वारा किया गया है। 23 मार्च 2013 को मंगला और ऐश्वर्या से तेल का और रागेश्वरी से प्राकृतिक गैस का उत्पादन प्रारम्भ हो गया है। तेल की खुदाई के लिए बाड़मेर के बायतू क्षेत्र के जोगासरिया गाँव की पहचान बन गई है। इसी गाँव में ये तेल क्षेत्र हैं । यहाँ एक अरब बैरल से अधिक तेल उपलब्ध है। बोधियां गाँव में 300 मिलियन बैरल तेल के भण्डार मिले हैं। इनके अलावा चूनावाला और मग्गा की ढाणी में भी तेल मिला है। तेल से राजस्थान राज्य को बड़ा राजस्व मिलना प्रारम्भ हो गया है। बाड़मेर.सांचोर क्षेत्र ;जालौरद्ध आज भारत का प्रमुख तेल क्षेत्र बन गया है।
- बाड़मेर के पचंपदरा में पेट्रोलियम रिफाइनरी एवं पैट्रो कैमिकल्स कॉम्पलेक्स की स्थापना की जाएगी। इस रिफाइनरी में एचपीसीएल का 74% और राजस्थान का 26 %हिस्सा है।
- बाड़मेर.सांचौर बेसिन में केयर्न इण्डिया ने अप्रैल 2013 को ब्लॉक में नवीन तेल क्षेत्र की खोज की है। बाड़मेर में यह कम्पनी अब तक 225 से अधिक विकास कएँ और 150 से अधिक आंकलन कुएँ खोद चुकी है
- गिरल विद्युत उत्पादन संयंत्र
- यह राज्य का लिग्नाइट कोयला आधारित विद्युत संयंत्र है। इसमें 125 ग 2 मेगावाट विद्युत का उत्पादन हो रहा है।
- कपूरड़ी में 250 ग 2 मेगावाट और जालोपा में 250 ग 4 मेगावाट की इकाईयाँ स्थापित हैं। बाड़मेर के आगोरिया में 50 मेगावाट की सौर ऊर्जा परियोजना स्थापित है।
- हीटेड लाइन का उद्घाटन
- नागाणा गाँव में मंगला प्रोसेसिंग टर्मिनल से सलाया -गुजरात तक बिछाई जाने वाली पाइप लाइन का उद्घाटन 4 फरवरी 2010 को हुआ। यह ऊर्जा क्षेत्र में दुनिया की सबसे लम्बी हीटेड पाइप लाइन है। हस्तशिल्प
- वस्त्र पर अजरक प्रिन्ट्स के लिए बाड़मेर प्रसिद्ध है। यह लाल व नीले रंगों में ज्यामितीय अजरक छापों के लिए जाना जाता है। इसे सूर्य से बचाव के लिए उत्तम माना जाता है। यह नगर लकड़ी शिल्पए मिट्टी के बर्तन, कालीन, छापे, रंग.बिरंगी पोशाकों के लिए प्रसिद्ध है। यहाँ की चमड़े की बनी जूतियाँ भी प्रसिद्ध हैं।
दर्शनीय स्थल :-
1 किराडु :-
यह राजस्थान के खजुराहो के नाम से विख्यात है तथा यहाँ पर नागर शैली के मंदिर है यह अत्यतं दार्शनिक स्थल है पर्यटक यहाँ पर प्रतिवर्ष यहाँ की चकाचोधं को देखने के लिए आते है
2 खेड :-
यह वैष्णवो का तीर्थ स्थल है जो लूनी नदी के किनारे स्थित है यह रेबारी जाति का आस्था स्थल है वर्तमान मे यहाँ 4 मंदिर है जिनमे प्रसिद्ध मंदिर रणछोड राय जी का है
3 नाकोड़ा :-
यहाँ 23वें जैन तीर्थकर भगवान पार्श्वनाथ की प्रतिमा स्थापित है। यहाँ प्रतिवर्ष पोष दशमी को पार्श्वनाथ के जन्मोत्सव पर मेला भरता है। स्थापत्य की दृष्टि से नाकोड़ा के आदिनाथ एवं शांतिनाथ मंदिर बेजोड़ हैं। यहाँ स्थित भैरव की मूर्ति (16वीं शताब्दी ) आस्था की केन्द्र है।
4 विरात्रा माता का मंदिर
यह मंदिर बाड़मेर से 49 किमी चौहटन के समीप स्थित है। यह स्थान भाटी राजपूतों द्वारा पूजा जाता है।
5 आसोतरा
ब्रह्माजी का विश्व का दूसरा मंदिर।6 बाटाडू का कुआं
बायतु पंचायत समिति के अन्तर्गत बाटाडू गाँव में संगमरमर का कुआं दर्शनीय है।
7 सिवाना का दुर्ग
8 नागणेची माता का मंदिर
राठौड़ों की कुलदेवी नागणेची का मंदिर पचपदरा के समीप नागौढ़ा गाँव में बसा है। यहाँ लकड़ी द्वारा निर्मित देवी की प्रतिमा स्थित है।
अन्य स्मरणीय तथ्य
- मल्लीनाथ पशु मेला.राज्यस्तरीय पशु मेला तिलवाड़ा में भरता है। यह मेला चैत्र बुदी ग्यारस से चैत्र सुदी ग्यारस तक भरता है। यह मेला राठीए थारपारकरए कांकरेजए मालानी गायों की नस्लों के लिए प्रसिद्ध है। यहाँ का मल्लीनाथ मंदिर आस्था का केन्द्र है। यहाँ राव मल्लीनाथ ने चिर समाधि ली थी।
- इस जिले में लैंथेनियम एवं सीरियम नामक दुर्लभ खनिजों के भण्डार प्राप्त हुए हैं।
- लोकदेवता मल्लीनाथ का मंदिर तिलवाड़ा में है।

Rivers: - Luni is the main river here. Among other rivers, Sukdi and Mithdi are the main ones. The water of Luni river becomes sweet and saline till Balotra as it passes through a salt water lake called Panchpadara.
Energy :-
Petroleum :- Mangala-1 Aishwarya, Vijaya, Bhagyam, Raageshwari are the major oil fields. The work of oil exploration here has been done by the UK's Cairn Energy Company. The production of oil from Mangala and Aishwarya and natural gas from Rageshwari has started on 23 March 2013. Jogasaria village of Baitu area of Barmer has become the identity for oil excavation. These are the oil fields in this village. There are more than one billion barrels of oil available here. 300 million barrels of oil reserves have been found in Bodhiyan village. Apart from these, oil has also been found in Chunawala and Magga ki Dhani. Rajasthan state has started getting huge revenue from oil. Barmer-Sanchor field (Jalore) has become the major oil field of India today.
Petroleum refinery and petrochemicals complex will be set up at Pachampada in Barmer. HPCL holds 74% and Rajasthan 26% in this refinery.
Cairn India has discovered a new oil field in the block on April 2013 in Barmer-Sanchore Basin. So far this company has dug more than 225 development wells and more than 150 assessment wells in Barmer.
Giral Power Generation Plant
It is the state's lignite coal based power plant. It is generating 125 x 2 MW of electricity.
There are 250 x 2 MW units installed at Kapurdi and 250 x 4 MW at Jalopa. A 50 MW solar power project is established at Agoria in Barmer.
Heated line opening
The pipeline to be laid from Mangala Processing Terminal in Nagana village to Salaya (Gujarat) was inaugurated on 4th February, 2010. It is the world's longest heated pipeline in the energy sector. handicrafts
Barmer is famous for Ajrak prints on textiles. It is known for its geometric azarak prints in red and blue colours. It is considered best for protection from the sun. This city is famous for wood crafts, pottery, carpets, raids, colorful dresses. The shoes made of leather are also famous here.
Scenic Spots :-
1 Kiradu :-
It is famous as the Khajuraho of Rajasthan and has a Nagara style temple, it is a very philosophical place. Tourists come here every year to see the dazzlingness of this place.
2 Khed :-
It is the pilgrimage site of Vaishnavites which is situated on the banks of river Luni, it is the place of faith of Rebari caste, at present there are 4 temples in which the famous temple is of Ranchod Rai ji.
3 Nakoda :-
The statue of Lord Parshvanath, the 23rd Jain Tirthankar, is established here. Every year on Posh Dashami, a fair is held on the birth anniversary of Parshvanath. From the point of view of architecture, the Adinath and Shantinath temples of Nakoda are unmatched. The idol of Bhairav (16th century) situated here is the center of faith.
4 Temple of Viratra Mata
This temple is situated near Chauhtan, 49 km from Barmer. This place is worshiped by Bhati Rajputs.
5 Asotra
World's second temple of Brahmaji.
6 Batadu's well
Marble well is visible in Batadu village under Baitu Panchayat Samiti.
7 Sivana Fort
It was built in 1011 AD by Veer Narayan, son of Panwar Raja Bhoj. Built in the hills of Chappan, this fort is located 30 km from Jalore, which is built in the hills of Chappan. This fort is famous for its vastness. The ruler of this place, Sheetal Dev was attacked and killed by Alauddin Khilji in 1308 AD and changed the name of Siwan to Khairabad. The legends of Kallaji Rathod are associated with this fort. The Thada of Kalla Raimlot is situated in Siwana fort. Due to its insidious nature, the fort of Siwana has been the refuge of the kings of Marwar in times of crisis.
8 Naganechi Mata Temple
The temple of Nagnechi, the Kuldevi of Rathores, is situated in the village of Nagaudha near Pachpadra. Here the idol of the goddess made of wood is situated.
Other facts to remember
- Mallinath cattle fair. State level cattle fair takes place in Tilwara. This fair fills from Chaitra Budi Gyaras to Chaitra Sudi Gyaras. This fair is famous for the breeds of Rathi, Tharparkar, Kankrej, Malani cows. The Mallinath temple here is the center of faith. Here Rao Mallinath took eternal samadhi.
- The deposits of rare minerals named lanthanium and cerium have been found in this district.
- The temple of Lokdevta Mallinath is in Tilwara.
